Ford Probe is a coupe and a product of the Ford Motor Company that was produced in 1989. The car was made to replace the Ford EXP and became the Fords sports-compact car. It was designed using the Mazda platform except the sheet metal and the interior that were different. Although the car was brought to the market to replace the Ford EXP, there was also some possibility for the car to replace the Ford Mustang and which could bring competition to the Toyota Celica and the Acura Integra. The car was found to have the worst performance in the Fords production and a plan to stop its production was made in 1997. Ford Probe has its OBD-II system in the cars power train computer and is designed to assist in reduction and prevention of pollution. The system records every component and system that may cause emission of pollutants when the car is on motion. The system has malfunction indicator light (MIL) which alerts the driver when the car has some mechanical problem and storing fault code information where the mechanic can read the recorded codes. Each code means a different problem that the car is experiencing and thus, the mechanic is required to know what every code means. The MIL only shows its indicators when some problem has not been able to be noticed for a three successive driving cycle.
